Edgegrain (#1 WRC) shingles are much more stable, cup less and maintain finish longer.
R&R shingles are square at the butt and have straight, parallel edges.
"Blue Label" is a common term for #1 WRC shingles; "Red Label" refers to #2 shingles.
Western Red Cedar shingles are sawn from larger blocks and run about 30% wider
on average, than Eastern White Cedar.
Factory finishing both faces on shingles greatly improves stability and longevity.
Currently, oil-based products penetrate better and reduce extractive discoloration
(great primer coat).
Latex (water-based) coatings build a more flexible and durable film (great topcoat).
A two-coat solid factory applied system is the best value and protection on sidewall shingles.
Factory finished shingles are packaged in cardboard cartons and must be kept dry prior
to installation.
After factory finishing, we may repackage for optimal handling; however, orders are
invoiced according to original mill packaging. |
